As you all know, our chickens are also on a lot smaller than the zoning regs. I hope that they don’t do a crackdown.

However, if you live in Georgia and for some reason read this, please go to the link in the story and sign the petition.

This lady is fighting the fight for the same reason that many people do. Because commercial chicken is a horrible product. Chickens that can’t turn around or stand on their own feet. Chickens that are fed hormones that fatten them to maturity in 30 days, (wonder why boys are growing breasts?).

A relationship with your food is necessary.

Limp Lettuce: Home grown lettuce is often too limp to go right from harvest to salad bowl. How to crisp it up? Wash in cold water, shake gently and refrigerate in a plastic bag for an hour before dinner.

I think I know the inspiration for this French sweet bread which actually originated in England so the legend goes…the inspiration for this wonderfully sweet, light and really pretty bread. They could have also named it Dawn til Dusk bread; not for the vampires but due to the 5+ hours it took to make it. Haven’t cut into it yet but it is stunning as you can see and has filled our home with the smell of my grandmother’s Sunday kitchen.

Waiting really is the hardest part

Praying our cabbage will be ready in about 4 weeks give or take. We had a cold spell followed by a warm few days which gave them a boost. Same scenario coming this week so perhaps they will again jump up. They sure look delicious though! Greg and I tried our first jars of sauerkraut this week (even Andy liked it) and decided that whatever we used to eat as sauerkraut was a criminal imposter.

They came today! Well, yesterday but we don’t check our mail everyday.
These should be ready in two years. We have always wanted to grow asparagus but didn’t have the $$ to invest in roots already set. These seeds were only $4.95 from Burpee . Inexpensive is not always better -ha!- so we shall see! Greg is finding a home for them outside, a permanent home, and then we will soak these beauties and go from there. Can’t wait! Terri
